The Karate Initiative (SCIO) (known as Carnegie Dojo) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Scottish Charity number: SC039618. 

The Karate Initiative was set up in October 2005 by then serving Police Officers (Gordon Williamson, Roy Bower and Ashley Walker) in conjunction with Fife Constabulary and was originally awarded charity Status in June 2008. 

Carnegie dojo is affiliated to JKA Scotland which is a non profit making organisation.  All members give their time voluntarily as do all Instructors at Carnegie dojo. Carnegie Dojo adhere to the rules and regulations of JKA Scotland.

 The following priorities are being met through the Karate initiative: - 

• Reducing health inequalities by increasing participation in activities for children, young people and their families. 

• Enhancing the social and physical environments for the people of west Fife by diverting young people from offending/anti-social behaviour. 

• Reducing poverty by providing services and equipment free of charge to low-income and disadvantaged families.
