Carnegie Dojo offers Shotokan karate classes in Dunfermline for children, teenagers, and adults of all abilities.

The Karate Initiative (SCIO), known as Carnegie Dojo, is a registered Scottish charity (SC039618) dedicated to improving the lives of children, young people, and families through karate and community engagement.

Founded in October 2005 by serving police officers Gordon Williamson, Roy Bower, and Ashley Walker in partnership with Fife Constabulary, the charity was officially granted charitable status in June 2008.

Carnegie Dojo is proudly affiliated with JKA Scotland, a non-profit organisation committed to traditional karate and community values. All instructors and members volunteer their time, and the dojo operates in line with JKA Scotland’s rules and standards.

The following priorities are being met through the Karate initiative: -

• Reducing health inequalities by increasing participation in activities for children, young people and their families.

• Enhancing the social and physical environments for the people of west Fife by diverting young people from offending/anti-social behaviour.

• Reducing poverty by providing services and equipment free of charge to low-income and disadvantaged families.
